First, the name. It’s taken from radical Chartist George Julian Harney’s newspaper The Red Republican, which he published in 1850.
Second, the purpose. Red Republican stands for full democratization of society. This extends to the economic sphere and all public life. Some call it socialism, some communism. Marx called it extreme democracy.
Third, there is no god but truth and Red Republican writers shall seek it. In examining aspects of society and capitalism’s effect on our planet we extol human virtues, damn profit-seeking despoliation, and strive for a non-exploiting world of human liberation.
